About Lawrence Wilson
With a 20-year business management background across SMEs and corporate organisations, Lawrence has fine-tuned his skills to help small and medium sized business owners realise their ambitions.
Lawrence can trace his enthusiasm for entrepreneurship back to his sales-savvy mother’s home grown food business, which she eventually sold for a profit. He worked alongside her and gained valuable exposure to sales, food production, accounts, recruitment and web site development.
From there he worked as Features Editor in a family owned B2B publishing business and in customer services, for the global Internet and telecoms giant Tiscali. He then embarked upon a 15-year sales management career, firstly for an IT services SME and then Pitney Bowes and Otis Lifts. Whilst at Otis Lifts he held credit control, debt management and operational responsibilities.
Lawrence explains, “Business is in my blood; it’s what fires me up. SME owners appreciate the tenacity I bring to the analysis of their companies. Once I’ve set my sights on something, I don’t give up. I’m a relationship builder and pride myself on finding common ground with everybody. I relish helping small business owners get past the ‘gatekeepers’ that may hold the keys to their growth.”
In his spare time Lawrence enjoys both playing and watching golf, cricket and rugby.

Lawrence covered a lot of good material focused on growing a valuable and sellable business. Two points that particularly resonated with me were the impact of recurring revenue & predictability of profit on the value of the company you are building and the need to structure the human resources of the business, so eventually it can operate without the founder(s). His advice lead to me reconsidering the business model I was taking to market and making adjustments required to create recurring revenue.
